Karina had head about our photography and had been following our work for some time, so when Scott proposed and she said yes, she got in touch to ask us to photograph her big day. The big day arrived and Nigel and I travelled down to Somerset to photograph their wedding. They were married in the picture perfect village church of St Michaels and All Angels Church in East Coker followed by a barn reception at Haselbury Mill and Tythe Barn near Crewkerne in Somerset. It was a day filled with fun and laughter, and a joy to be a part of.
Church weddings
The Vermont Hotel - Kimberley and Alex
Nigel and I love a good winter wedding. The dark nights and the wet weather offer us a host of opportunities to be creative and really force us to think outside the box. Married last November, Kimberley and Alex's big day was one of those weddings.
After getting ready at home, they were married in the beautiful Church of St Helen's in Low Fell, Gateshead heading over to the chic 1930's art deco inspired Vermont Hotel. It's city centre location, elegance and style, and it incredible views over the river Tyne make it one of our favourite venues.
Kimberley and Alex met through their shared love of Classic American cars and in particular because of the 1965 Cadillac that Alex and Kimberley's brother restored together. It was naturally the only choice for their transport for the day and the perfect scene for a romantic picture of the couple together at the end of the day.
Matfen Hall - Janet and Ben
Our first wedding of what was to be a very busy August was that of Janet and Ben. They met and become a couple whilst still at school and chose to tie the knot last summer. They were married in the pretty church in Stamfordham, just up the road from their reception venue, Matfen Hall. Looking smart as a dart, Ben wore his Naval number one's for the special occasion. After the ceremony, Ben whisked his new wife Janet off to Matfen Hall in his own BMW Z3. Their guests happily greeted them as they made a grand entrance into the Great Hall of Matfen Hall, announced in to the room with music played by the string quartet, a special surprise gift from Janet's father which then continued, setting a wonderful mood for the drinks reception.
It was a wonderful day with a great couple, picture perfect weather and a stunning venue.
Here are a few of our fav's from the day...
Beamish Hall - Helen and Callum
Callum's Dad has been a vicar at the Holy Trinity church in Murton for many years so when it was time for Callum to marry, who else would have be more perfect for the job that his old man? The pretty church near Seaham made for the perfect setting for Helen and Callum's wedding. Helen arrived in style to the beautifully decorated church path, arches adorned with yellow sunflowers - the colour symbolising joy, happiness and friendship led her way to the steps of the church and to Callum's dad, waiting to catch a picture of the moment for himself on his phone.
After their beautiful wedding ceremony, we all head over to Beamish Hall in Co. Durham. It's always a joy to work at Beamish, with it's character style and beautiful mature grounds, not forgetting the fab team.
It was a really fantastic day with a lovely couple, and a joy and honour to have been involved.
